Sunday Drive
show user profile  K u r a i
I left the UK 8 years ago I had to sell my beloved MX5 :(

People make fun... but those that have driven one know it is loads of fun. I have had a Golf and a BMW.... but it's like wearing contraception.... you don't feel anything.

This is what the traffic in Cairo is like all day. You cannot enjoy driving... and if you go on the moterway.... you are dicing with death... there are no police and people drive however they want....extremely dangerously. It's like Deathrace 2000.

So.... hope you all enjoy your Sunday drive :)

Well, I'm glad my morning commute doesn't involve going to Cairo!

My morning commute is about 5 paces into my spare bedroom office. Petrol cost me about 10 bucks a week these days.

Mind you, i holiday in Sharmelsheik most years as yes, the motorway driving there is dicing with death on a daily bases.

You see this all the time... the whole family on one bike. Women must sit sideways.
And nobody wears a helmet... could you get away with this in the West?

Buses never stop in Cairo... you have to chase after them and try and jump on.

Do people pay for the busses?

Out of curiosity - Why move there from the UK?

I often wondered how people paid for the bus myself....?

I have been homeless, divorced, bankrupt and had a nervous breakdown... I decided I needed a break from the pump and grind of UK life.... I decided to start again in another country :)

Though I do get homesick.... for simple things like bacon sandwiches and the smell of cut grass.... I even miss the rain.... but I would rather reign in hell than serve in heaven :)

Here's a video I found inspiring... this vid is about people who have lost their creative jobs in the commercial market and decided to create their own creative businesses as a result.

I know.... you have to work really hard in the UK just to pay the bills... if you want some luxury you have to do it on credit.... which means you have to work even harder to pay them off.

The UK is not as bad as Japan though, you take your sleeping bag to work and sleep on the office floor... I don't think the Brits will ever be that dedicated but, the UK has already got the longest working hours in Europe... even film stars can't afford to live in London.

Which is why people are re-thinking how they live... and making apartments out of Freight Containers.... this is the age of micro-managing your lifestyle ... the old paradigm of buying a house and filling it with meaningless junk is over. People just can't do it anymore.

Sorry... feel strongly about the financial burdens of life. Too much pressure... not enough fun :)

S.E. Asia for me... since it's cheap as shit. But salaries are cheap as shit too. Not into S.E. Asian girls either. Sure, nice weather (30-35 degrees Celsius every-fucking-day), but it's one dirty concrete jungle of shops and not much else. Gonna move soon. Need to be around whites again.

Sounds like I've started an exodus.

With your Max skills and good English you will be highly sort after in booming economies like Canada, Austrialia and Brazil. But, most people don't act on their instincts... they play safe. It's not peoples fault... it's social conditioning. The last thing the governments of the world want is a multitude of free thinkers... they want you bogged down in debt and paying taxes.

My advice is always... don't think about it... just do it. The universe runs on emotion... if you really want something with all your heart... the world around you changes to make it happen. Put photos of where you wanna go... put pics of the girls you wanna meet... think about the perfect job...if you can visualize it with emotion, it will happen. But you have to take the first step.
