Stretching control objects
show user profile  griffinanimator
I have built a couple rigs now that use nurbs curves as visual control objects. Ever now and then I get a control that stretches like crazy when I rotate it. I think I am having trouble understanding how Max interprets local space transformations on objects. My control object is set up like this.
"Ctrl_Lip" linked to "Ctrl_Head" "Bone_Lip" is position and orient constrained to the "Ctrl_Lip". I froze transforms on both control objects once the hierarchy was established.
Has this stretchy problem happened to anyone else? Can you give me any tips how to avoid it?

It looks like at some point you've non-uniformly scaled something at the object level (which is the root of all evil).
Try applying a ResetXForm (in the Utilities) and collapse. Try with the object's parent too if it's linked.

That did the trick. I dug through the hierarchy and found some objects I must have scaled. Thanks for saving me a lot of future frustration.
