Steering wheel doesn't appear
I'm using Max 2009 SP1. If the Graphics Mode is Direct3D or OpenGL it appears (and the ViewCube too). But in Software Mode, they are both missing. Shift+W doesn't make it appear, nor does Views> SteeringWheels (this one only shows 3 small horizontal lines).

A question: Do you actually use these things? I thought everybody just turned them off.

@ mrgrotey: The problem is I like my Max to be functional in all graphic modes. And where does it say I should be working in Direct3D?

Maybe they just don't work in software mode?
Software mode is like "safe-mode", and shouldn't be used unless you really have to.

@ Nik Clark: Couldn't you check it out (assuming you have Max 2009)? Thanks.

ASD, I just tried it, they don't appear unless you are in a hardware accelerated mode, so nothing is wrong with your PC!
