Ohh ya back on topic... the rigging is quite nice. looks like fairly simple animation controls as well. Very smooth and realistic motion. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, I got a bit of a complicated problem concerning the rigging

Dunno if this shitty screen capture shows off my prob, but let's try

There's a control that brings the gun out from the dock. A simple spinner that pulls it out and rotates it into position (the gun itself has another look at target but that's besides)

Is there anyway to rig it in a way so that it's like a on / off switch. I 'on' it and the animation (gun coming out) happens over a set number of frames.

Then again, the spin of the gun - currently it's set to a slider which multiplies the Frame number by the slider value... so the larger the value, the faster it spins BUT when u start bringing the slider back, it rotates the other way cos ultimately, what's happening is a Z rotational VALUE being returned.

Is there anyway to connect it so that what's returned to the gun is a RATE of change of Rotation... something like a derivate or tangent of the slider function..

Does anyone get what I'm saying?

Much obligated to any help

Hah yes, it's called animating with keyframes ;)

Tis an interesting question, I don't have an answer for you... so consider this a bump.

Haha thanks Dave yes animating with keyframes... sigh..

what I really wud like is I animate with keyframe the robot arm doing it's thing, and then I click the 'gun out' checkbox (whatever) and it comes out smoothly the way i've rigged it, rather than 'spinner 0 at x' then 'spinner max at x + whatever' lol

thanks for the bump!

This is what reaction manager is good for methinks, you record kinda 'macros' of actions then you can assign buttons to those actions
