(Spline Model Chair Question)
show user profile  alexandriareene
Hi all,

I am still new to max (as you learned of my last post) i am looking for some help with a chair i am modeling. I am doing a somewhat complex scene for beginners. I do have a question though about this shape. (thats the direct photo of the chair im modeling- but i dont get that part in green or red.)

I have the seat (lathed , the chair part done and the curly things in the middle done) but i cant figure out the back part of the chair> i cant figure out if thats one spline or splines made together i had it made but it just looked awful)

Any help or feed back you can give would be helpful.

the red part looks like it's an M from front on, and a U from top down, with the U matching the round front of the seat base.

The green part is just an upside-down U slightly bent, it shouldn't be a problem.

As for the back, yes, it's done with splines. You can add an edit poly modifier to the stack and tweak the spline after, which is useful if you want to adjust the spline still (can just go down the modifier stack).
