does anyone know or is useing 3d max student / faculty version of max 2008 and 2009 has water marks in the final rendering ??????? any feed back would be great becasue i need to upgrade and this is the cheapest way thanks again guys

As long as the software is not used for anything commercial you should be OK. Once you use it for making money, you are in trouble with Autodesk....

ok well it looks liek there will be a tag on the print out or the screen shot. so now can you upgrade mentalrays with out getting a new max?

max has added a watermark? they never used to have one.

and its 'Mental Ray' not 'mentalrays' ;)

I don't know if there is a water mark or not, I have not used a student version since I was in school (Version 6)

nope, the only difference between commerical and edu edtions are:


- price
- small window reminding you this is a edu version on startup
- less morals required to rip off autodesk


other then that, they are identical...

Purchasing a student license is a new one for me, usually if someone's willing to use a product without a full commercial license, they won't pay for it at all... :\

Actually, I think you have to proove your student status in order to get your license, so the whole process would be pointless if you're not a student because they wouldn't give you a serial!

Very true. But my father in law is a teacher and he can get it with his school I did it with adobe cs3.i tried to find a good free version but no luck on a full copy so I will have to buy it and try to save money.
