I'm starting to get into off-camera flashes. I've got a few flashes and some radio flash triggers, so I'm messing around with that. I'll be doing that mostly with digital, but possibly with film too.
And on the film side of things, I've been using my 4x5 speedgraphic (1940's press camera), and I'm in the process of getting a big strobe for it, so I can start doing some classic style photojournalism, specifically for local "vintage auto races" that are held every so often.

I'm still following my passion of putting one thing on top of another. Crap photo, I really shouldn't take pictures on my desk :o)
I was given one of those desktop studio light box things for Christmas, I'll start taking better photos of pebbles soon, I promise!

Yup. That's the fake DOF I added in Photoshop. The image was really busy, and I wanted to focus the eye on the rocks, somewhat. I assure you that there was no trickery though!

Yup, balanced. It's called pebble balancing or rock balancing (on google) http://www.flickr.com/groups/pebblebalancing/pool/
It took about 15 minutes, and several catastrophic failures to get them to stand like that. You have to find angles and positions so the rocks sit without wobbling or leaning.
I find the whole zen of it really pleasing, as you get lost in it, and the outcome is nice to look at while it lasts.
I want to do a sand garden (japanese) with balanced rocks in it. I'd really love that.
If you think my balance looks impossible, look at some of the work of a guy I know called Bill Dan. He is the master!
When I wander around, I leave stacks of rocks. I hope that people come across them, and think "hey, that's neat".
