Hi, Im more used to working in sketchup than max as i do alot of architectural/ geometric stuff. Im trying to get more into max but what i really cant understand is why i cant drag shapes onto a surface like i can in sketchup. For example, take a box, rotate it on its x axis 45 degrees, then select the rectangle shape and now when i try and draw onto one of the faces of the box it doesnt snap to the face normals like it does in sketchup. ive tried alot of combinations of snaps checkboxes but it seems like this isnt possible? its such a useful feature , am i doing something wrong?

after selecting which primitive to drag onto the canvas press the 'autogrid' button
should do what you want
then put the mesh on the canvas/ object etc

Just as a follow up question is anyone aware of a script that once assigned to a hotkey, would cut the selected spline into the selected poly in the same way that in sketchup a shape drawn onto a face creates a new face?
