Maxunderground news unavailable

snaps are doing my head in. I am using vertex snaps and when I click a corner to snap it to another corner it just snaps where it wants to not on the corner!

Any one else experience this bug?

Have you turned off Grid, and all the other snaps?

Which err.. "mode" are you using? I have no idea what 2 and 2.5 do... but I know that they never do what I expect. So I always have it on 3 (default, I believe)... I'd love to know a little bit more about this if anyone has the answers.

Also, Max snaps need you to not already be 'snapping' to a different point when you use it. Oh, and make sure "Use Axis Constraints" isn't ticked (unless it isn't, and you want it to be??)

use cursor centre as snaps is useful as a check as well.

in the options make sure you don't have 'constrain to axes' on

hmm I seem to have fixed it by first selecting on the move gizmo which direction I want to move the object in to snap. If I try and snap it in the Y direction for example with X previously selected on the gizmo it doesn't like it.

Thats a bit crap!

@Dave - From what I've come to understand Snap on 3 "mode" snaps to the nearest to view 3d snapable place in space, say you have 2 boxes and move one on the top view so it snaps with the other, it will snap on the top vertex of that corner in the box. That could cause a mess with some things.

2.5 snap is the one I use the most, seems to me like it snaps in a 2d plane instead of a 3d one, say you have the same 2 boxes but this time us a 2.5 snap, the box will snap on the other one at the same Z coordinate.Don't know if that makes any sense but it's what I've found useful

Ah cheers Kiko, that all sounds like quite logical.

@Zeefusion, check my first post... sounds like you've got axis constraints on. (right click the snaps button for a menu)
