Smooth modifier
show user profile  topofsteel
I'm working with a mesh I was given. The one on the left I applied a Smooth modifier at the element sub-object level and it worked fine. The left side it did not. What could be causing that? How can I fix this? Thanks.

Yes, the one on the left definitely looks better than the one on the left. *scratches head*

Nah, it's just support edges missing. Need them to help edges stay firm. Youtube it.

But you don't need to smooth everything, and this is a primary example of an object I would just chamfer the edges of.

As the one on the left looks different to the one on the left, maybe you could just duplicate the left one to the left and they would look the same....right ?

Check for welded or un-welded verts, why do they need a smooth modifier anyway?, they look very angular in construction and I can't see any chamfers.
