Smooth the edges of this table without creating four million segments

So here is what I have right now:

Is there a way to smooth this object without creating four million segments on it?

And what's the deal with the triangular black shadows? D:

Click on weld core.
Also you may want to convert it to editable poly and weld center points just incase they are not all connected.

Also, I don't know what you are going for, but you can sure use more edges for the roundness. And for something like this, I would do it by hand and not use lathe, or you can create a simple box like object, lathe that, and the chamfer the corners to your liking.
