Smooth edges of planes
Thot
Hi,
I have a plane lying over another object. I want that the plane have a smooth corner on a rendered picture, so that the transition between the plane and the other looks smooth. I hope you understand what I mean.
greetings Thot

Post a screenshot of what you mean, it's definitely not immediately clear what you're aiming for.

can you post a wireframe pic of your scene? it looks rather awkward and I have no idea how the model of hte beach is made.

yeah youre right the beach is awkward. its just a spline with a bevel modifier added, ive tried the lansascape tool but it didnt worked correctly.Whatever heres the wireframe pic.

hello there,
are the palm trees arbaro- they seem really high poly to me?
maybe the easiest way to fake it would be caustics but i'm no expert in this- i'd just do an animated breaker gif on a nearly flat plane with a good alpha over the top
also i just thought you could do a morph breaker too- need all of it to be modeled though and that just might not be worth it time and poly count-wise
good luck with it though

you need to make the sand go into the water, and the water needs to be see through to some extent. then you will get your effect.

you should add an opacity map so it starts to go see through. see below
this is before the opacity map is added i.e. the water's edge is very hard and sharp...
this is after the opacity map is added, the edge is broken up much better
and here is the opacity map... the black areas will make the texture transparent and the white areas completely opaque and the inbetween bit ...well...inbetween :)
you will have the add UV coordinates to the water (or just the water break) if you havent already.
