Skin Morph Problem..
show user profile  ravihara
I'm working on fine tuning my character's palm twist and i corrected it on one side using skin wrap and picked the other side's bone in thought of mirroring it. but as i selected, it highlights the bone in wrong way and obviously, results are crap too. what is the reason for this?

Now I've never used Physique to do my skinning so I don't really know what's going on here. If I use skin wrap it's only to transfer weights from a low poly to a higher poly model.

Theory:
If mirroring picks up the wrong vertices then either the mirror's not center (yours looks correct, though), or the mirror threshold is too high or too low. Same applies for bones.

Trouble-shooting:
If you've not done much work to this why not start again using only skin and no physique? Load up your bones and click "mirror" and check that the verts are all getting picked up correctly (i.e. no red verts), and that the mirror is in the dead center of the character. If you have red verts up the mirror threshold until you don't (though you'll still have red dots on the mirror center, obviously). If the mirror isn't dead center, delete the skin modifier, reset xform and try again.

If the bones aren't getting picked up correctly you've found your problem: the bones are not mirrored perfectly. If this is the case, try mirroring bones from green->blue. If this doesn't work, up the threshold until it does. If it REALLY doesn't want to work you've built your rig wrong. Go back, start again.

This covers about 90% of what you need to know. There's not much to it really.

its all confusing man. i created the morph for X rotation and still it gets activated by the y rotations also. seems sloppy. so i decided to go with twist bones in CAT. ( make forearm segmented in 3 )

I had exactly the same problem. Don't know how to fix that. I tried multiple morphs but that doesn't work. I think if you bend AND rotate the bone before morphing you might be able to get around this. Have a go, if that works, let me know as I'm curious how this can be resolved.
