Simple Animation Question
show user profile  voodoochile
Playing with the havok engine.

I want to throw a ball at a wall but cant work out how to do it. How do I propell the ball to the wall (horizontally) and then animate it bouncing?

At the moment the ball just drops vertically.

Any help guys?

its been a while since I did this, but without checking it out heres my 2 cent.
Animate the first few keyframes by hand then let the reactor take over after that. You can set that in the reactor tab of utils. The reactor wont give you the squash of the ball though.
Just make sure the ball is moving when reactor takes over, and adjust that movement to change the outcome. The more it moves between the first 2 frames , the faster it will go. If I get a chance I'll try it out tomorrow, be good to refresh my head. If not theres much brighter sparks than me around :)

EDIT did a quick test, hand animated the first 2 frames (last key was frame 1) then set the reactor to start at frame 1. Works ok once you tweek the elasticity.
