I'm trying to go for photo realism, and it's hard when you've been staring at it for a long time. It's still missing some stuff like side window flap thingys and hood and door lines and stuff. but that isn't why it looks fake. Any ideas?

The model looks good. Texture-wise, the tyres look too dark and the chrome looks too white.

As for realism, it looks realistic considering it's in a fake studio setup. If you want to test how real it really is put it in an HDRI environment, the reflections will add a lot.

I am thinking there are too much light on it which makes it looks like more plastic..

Thanks guys for the insight!

HDRI: I know that when I do things like add HDRI and streaks and scratches and stuff it will help sell the shot. That's why I'm waiting till the end. feel free to tell me I'm wrong about this, but what I'm thinking is that if I can get the model looking real in a surreal type lighting setup with non of the tricks then it will look better when I add all the last touches.

Radiator stuff: The thing to the right is supposed to be an aluminum panel, didn't really nail the aluminum material I guess

"but that isn't why it looks fake. Any ideas?"

There's a lot, too much to bother writing down.

This would be a better expenditure of your time:

- Pick a real photo of an actual Cobra
- Do your best to match the photo
- Come back and then we'll show you what you missed.

Wheels too close to wheelarches (no suspension) ?
Pill shaped opening below grill has nothing behind it ?
No steering wheel / seats ?
Panel seams too soft (door, bonnet) ?
Door handle ?
Antenna ?
Rearview mirror ?
Vehicle registration sticker.
Side grill.
Indicators more orange.
Studio lighting environment does not help photorealism.
Add interesting details that are not necessarily part of the car model (smudge, perhaps cloth or piece of clothing like a jacket draped over side, accessories, setting)

So you added an hdri and moved the camera. Did I miss anything else? Otherwise it looks the same, i.e. still in a fake studio enviornment. You had a tonne of feedback, I expected a tonne of changes.

Lighting is better. Model still needs a lot of work.
It shows you've been looking at the photo.
The flow of the body is better but still not quite right.
You need to add thickness to the wheel arches so they catch the light. They look flimsy.
The whole front of the car is wrong, should come down lower looking at the picture.
The radiator area is a different shape to your model.
Still no doors or bonnet/hood.
Look more carefully at the photo. Are you not using reference blueprints?
Keep going.
