Shatter meshes?
show user profile  Nanne
Hello mates

In Maya there is a function called Shatter that randomly breaks a mesh into pieces. It can break it apart as solid meshes, shells or create cracks. Is there some way of telling Max to do this? According to the help file the Fracture in Reactor need you to break the mesh for it manually - but where is the fun in that :P

I've found a plug-in called RayFire (http://www.mirvadim.com/) that seems to be doing this, but is there other ways? Preferably free solutions :)

Cheers mates!

There was a fracture script written by a forum member a while ago, I don't know if he modified it so you can break apart objects other than a box though...

Google 3ds max fracture script, see what that brings.
Or there will be someone more helpful than me posting below.

Here it is: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/fracture-voronoi
But don't expect too much, it's very simple.

There are other fracture scripts, which prepare the object for use in reactor.
