shadow on translucent objects
show user profile  magarlick
Hey folks. I have an object casting a shadow onto a transparent plane. Viewed form above the shadow words well. But then when I position the camera underneath the planet the shadow vanishes. Is there anyway to have the shadow appear on both sides of the plane? I am just using the default renderer, ray-traced shadows.

Can you post a couple of small renders to explain, i'm a bit confused.

Could you add a shell mod to the plane?

You could just bake (RTT) the shadows in and use a 2 sided material ? That's assuming your using shadow matte for the shadows.
Pictures are always helpful, they narrow down the options much better than a text explanation ;)

do yourself a favor and switch to MR sooner rather than later.

Yay! MR FTW!!

Sorry. Just never hear anyone suggest using MR is good that's all.

Forget me, i've gone already.

It's really not that bad when you factor in that you already bought it if you have max.
