Seriously going to buy a Camera today, need your advice.
show user profile  9krausec
First off I would like to make it known that I know nothing about photography.

Why I want a camera?

1. To learn about photography
2. To take video footage to use with syntheyes to do motion tracking work
3. To take HDR images
4. To take HDRI images
5. To make hit pornography films

I know I want a Canon and these two are in my price range-

Either the Rebel t3i kit or the Rebel t2i kit...

Doing some research, with my limted knowedge, I can't seem to figure out where the extra 100 dollars is stuck into the t3i except for the fact that it has a flip out screen...

Can someone please tell me which one is going to be the better buy so I can drive to the store and get it... Also, and recommendations on tripods? Do these cameras usually come with a protective case? Would heavy vibrations of a motorcycle damage the camera at all (even in a case)..

I bought the Rebel XS 1000D for £300 on Ebay... I went back to the sellers page to see he has 9 left and is now selling them for £400 a pop.

C.l.i.c.k h.e.r.e

Also, should arrive tomorrow :) Can't wait to get snapping.

600d, or er, whatever it was - I had the same opinion just a flip out screen basically? Madness. 550d is indeed indeed a fine camera!

Yeh, if u want video too look closely at the specs for that - as Reeves said the 550D is nice, with the ability to go 1080p at i think 50 fps.. Photography wise you are good to go with any of the rebels or equivalent to start with..

Yeah I would say get the 550D over the 600 I don't see the value add for a flip out screen. That said in no time you will probably want a 5d like Bolts said. I've been using the Mk II for a couple of weeks now and it is amazing. Although I heard that the 5D Mk III is coming out in February....

Oops too late. :)

I could see how a flip out screen could be handy, for very low angle shots, or for very high angle shots where it's not very practical to look through the eyepiece.

None of my digitals have a live-view on the LCD, but if they did I'd totally make use of a flip-out screen.

Go for a 550D or a D5100, both are good.
