How can I get a separate Zdepth pass rendering with Vray!?
show user profile  disposable_aladdin
Hi - I'm struggling to get a separate zdepth out from a Vray render, even with render elements selected. It just keeps saying something about the VBR and not redering it out as a separate file. I'm used to this workflow into after effects, so don't know what to do! Any tips?

save out the files via the "Split Render Channels" option under the Vray Frame Buffer rollout in the main settings.

Make sure you have the zdepth set in the render elements (the on/off toggle is an old unnecessary toggle that you leave as is).

It'll output your primary beauty RGB pass along with the expected zdepth. For best results, use 16bit (half floating point) EXR's

(for the best of best results, don't ever use after effects for compositing heh)
