Secondary LCD gone poof
show user profile  Henrik Jonsson
I just thought I'd throw this one out there.. I have a 4 year old 20" Viewsonic LCD as a secondary display which just went black on me. The unit is out of warranty. The green light comes on, though I cant get it to pick up signal from either of my machines. It also fails to show the onscreen signal icon which it normally does even if there is no computer hooked up.
Is there a chance that this might be something simple to fix, like a fuse or something?

Ive got to admit that Ive never heard of anyone being that lucky (And I've worked with Comps for more than 10 years now)..

But if its completely dead and out of warranty, I see no reason not to have a look inside.

Make sure you check that its not caused by broken cables and such first though.

Terribly boring signature.

i had a problem with a dell tft. leds on, no signal, differet machines, same problem, no display menu showing up. the solution in this case was to disconnect the power chord until the leds turned dark. seemed that the display just "hung" or something. sounds very simple, but in my case it worked.

Sorry to hear about your loss, I hope you can fix it. I would think technology would of learned its lesson about malfunctioning after this....
