Script to remove double-sided polys?
show user profile  brisck1
Hi,

Im just wondering if any of you guys know how a script or something to help remove double sided polys? I have a bunch of tree models which I need to optimise and get into a game engine but they all have double sided polyplanes (for the leaves/branches) when they could just be single-sided with a doubled-sided material.

thanks! ===================

I should imagine you can just go to the top view, make sure 'ignore backfacing' is checked and draw a selection box over all the leaves whilst in polygon mode, as each one is a simple square poly they will all have a poly towards you and one away from you so it should select exactly half of them (in theory)

You wont be left with any sort of coherent mesh afterwards... also, if any of the planes have normals that point exctly along the perpendicaular plane from the viewport (ie, in top view, any that you see only the [infinatly thin] edge) youll end up selecting both sides. ----------
