Scaling question
show user profile  ergo
I'm new to 3DSMax, so I've a stupid question about shape scaling.
Is it normal, when scaling a circle, it did not affect the radius?

yes it is normal for scaling not to affect the radius :)

this raises a good point though.
When scaling an object in a scene with other objects, it scales in relation to the other objects in the scene.

However if I create a scene, with say a box 10 x 10 x 20 and scale it, it still is 10 x 10 x 20
scaling doesn't affect the dimensions of the object, just it's size in relationship to the other objects in the scene.

Am I right in this?

it can be confusing

" Difficult, yes. Impossible , no..."

Because max takes the initial dimensions and multiplies it by a scale factor. If you export the object this way and import it somewhere else, it won't necessarily turn out the right size, if the other app ignores the scale.

Resetting the x-form removes the scaling and adjusts the initial size, and I believe scaling in some sub-object mode should change the dimensions instead of the scale factor.

Or something like that :P

I don't want to hi jack this thread but on the matter of scaling........
I put a biped inside a mesh....
but when I select the complete biped and mesh and scale, the mesh scales bigger than the biped, why is this please, because that is CLEARLY not scaling.
