Saving undo/redo history
show user profile  santoshyes
Is there a way to save the undo/redo history when saving a scene?
Or even better- all the scene actions including viewport changes.

Makes me wonder? Is undo info saved in a temp file of some sort while you work?
Or kept in memory?

If it was in a file.....might be a way....

Amateur here but ... could you store the undo history using undo on () into a variable and export this to a text file? and recal the text file once the scene is loaded?... no because you wouldnt have the geometry anymore.

but... what about possibly save every change you've made to separate files and call the files(reset scene as you step back in your undo states? slow, cluegy, ridiculous?? I know... :D

undo() only triggers the undo from memory. The actual scene data isn't stored in a method you have access to.

I thought about using macro recorder/ script listener and saving the script of all together with the scene ... and run the script in reverse for undo's ... possible?

You really want to save each and every action? That could be several thousands in just a few minutes!
Do what everybody else does: save incrementally.

Garp - sometimes I design stuff with Max and I thought it would be really neat to have a record of those 'eureka' moments as they happen - and then be able to add lighting materials etc and render it out as an animation - like a camtasia screen recording of the creation, except .. better.
mrgrotey - seems you are right
