Rover 75
show user profile  keattchb
Hey guys and girls. My new project is a rover 75, im aiming to produce a few photo realistic renders with a nice background. Im hoping to improve my lighting, material and rendering skills from this as opposed to modelling but without a decent model it would look crap so its still an important part obviously.

Anyway heres a few low quality renders of where i am so far, the modellings not perfect as some of the reflections arent laying on the surface perfectly.

sweet renders man! can't wait to see the progress!

He who says it cannot be done is interrupting the man doing it.

Really interesting subject for me! I worked on the handbooks for Rover in Oxford for these cars in about 1998. Nice start, looking forward to seeing your progress! :)

Wow fantastic! Your going to be able to provide the best crit, I'v noticed iv used the older rover badge as opposed to the cars from 2005 (i think) onwards that use the more modern one.

Its going to be a while until there is an update now. Iv been modelling this for about 3 weeks for a bit in the evenings after work and last night i mirrored the whole car across to get an idea of where i was. Instead of just deleting the mirror i deleted the whole lot without realising!! The auto backs only went back about half and hour in total) Iv now only got the front end and have to model the whole lot again...

How depressing, ill update when can get in a bit of modelling time in this week :(

yeah iv got auto backup, 3 files to be precise, but they are ridiculously spaced 10 mins apart. Im assuming there must be a setting in max to change this...What a lesson to learn though :(

Damn thats a harsh lesson to learn! Save lots of versions of your scenes:

At least when you start again it'll be better :)

Update....Again. Iv modelled it slightly better i think using more splines and iv downloaded silaghi Maurias's scripts, they make life so much easier and speed up productivity. I want to create a nice render on a background and frame it as a gift for my parents, so thats why the plate says "Kizzy" :)

Been modelling away when i can and have got to this point so far. Im really struggling to get the topology perfect, am i right in sitting there for hours moving vertices bit by bit?? Even getting the panel lines a consistent width is so difficult! I guess its just persistence, right?
