Rotating view around an object is out of control!
show user profile  Spear Chuck
I have a scene where the coordinate system isn't aligned to the world. I hope that's the way it's termed, if it's not please set me straight. Up is down right is left but every thing works so far.

When a single object is selected and I orbit around it using Alt > middle mouse button the whole dang world rotates around as if the axis isn't centered to the object but set to the world. I have to zoom way out then rotate around an object then zoom back in to see if line of view is where I want to be.

Is it because of the cockamamy way I've created the scene with its objects not aliened with the world (Guessing)?

you could group everything, and orient it correctly right side up again.

Could be that the object is linked to another object before you changed the orientation of the scene. If so, unlink the object and reset its Xform. (unlink first or it could mess up the objects scale dimensions) If there is complex rigging involved, and zero out points were not linked to a placement object before the scene orientation was adjusted, could end up being a nightmare to fix. If so try what Error404 suggested.

When positioning / rotating etc with offset coordinates have the Reference Coordinate System set to Local.

I tried to group all the objects in the scene and rotate it to where I wanted but then the object that has a path constraint went nuts and frustration set in.

There should not be any problems in rotating a scene with a path constraint applied to an object, as long as you select the path object e.g. spline to rotate. If objects go nuts when you rotate them, its almost definitely something to do with them being linked to an object that has had its scale adjusted at some point and the child object inheriting its now offset pivot coordinates. Remove the constraint from the object, reset its pivot point, and reset Xform. Then start the constraint set-up again. If removing the constraint causes scaling or orientation problems, start again by selecting the object as an element, and detach as clone, delete the old object and use the clone to start again.

I did scale a dummy after putting it on path constraint and linking another object to the dummy

Thanks for the help

UPDATE: I'M IN TO DEEP TO REORIENT THE WORLD - Who am I to think I can change the world when I can only change 'my' stars?

What I have accomplished is an understanding of Track View.

I have Camera1 following a car on a path, as it gets to frame 144 Camera2 takes over panning off the car onto the rest of the logo. At frame 200 another, bigger car flies off the large part of the logo onto the lower part at an arc, as it hits the plane it bounces once screaming between the text. I added a key to the animated track, pulled down the transform position percentage (after the key) so the car slows down as it curves to a stop.

Camera2 follows the car while climbing altitude revealing the whole logo...boom

I also found the Batch Render for use with several cameras, very cool.

It's not quit ready to show but maybe in a couple of days.
