Rolling a cube
show user profile  Ratbaggy
Howdy folkles,

Wondering if anyone has ideas on setting up a workable script/panels to control a cube to roll (based on animation). This is to use in a production, we're essentially trying to make this section of the animation as easy as possible, so we don't get bogged down, switching linked dummys etc.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Sounds tricky, but I bet Grap could do it.

You brought nothing to this thread... you will leave with nothing.

Seriously though, have a good look around (,, etc). Chances are that it already exists. Either for free or for a lot cheaper than having it coded especially for your needs.

Search the CGTalk maxscript forum. I swear I remember reading a big thread about this problem with some nifty solutions.

Yeah cool. I have been scouring the net. Didn't find anything all that useful.

I did indeed find the CGTalk thread...but that was quite difficult to follow what with some language issues and maths...mostly the maths stuff.

Will have a deeeeeper search on plugins/scripts etc.

Cheers folk.

There was a thread on the Area about it way back when Akayama's Dice went out. One of the autodesk bloggers also gave a good and simple rig on his blog.

I swear this has been asked, or talked about here.. Someone came up with a very cool way to rig a cube to be rolled... I just don't remember (so long ago, probably like a year or more back).

How do you find something specific like that which was posted so long ago on this forum..

For instance, there was a thread about how to make bomb diggity clouds in 3ds posted on MF, I'd like to revisit that thread, but it was so long ago I don't know how to get to it!

(and please, don't just post the link, but let me know how you do it!)
