I'm rarely that affected by celebrity deaths but damn I got hit right in the feels when I heard the news today.

Unbelievable, was in a bar with friends last night when the news broke, thought they were winding me up, agreed he was a genius.

Most people are unhappy. How you deal with it shapes your life :)

To some extent, it depends how you deal with it, sometimes there's no dealing with it and you just have to ride it out.

The same energy that fuels creativity also fuels depression in equal measure, it doesn't matter how talented or popular you are, when depression hits their is no hope, and everything becomes pointless....everything.
You feel isolated, alone, like your filled with lead, there is no way out, and it will last forever.

The smallest thing could have saved him, a phone call, a knock on the door, anything to temporarily snap him out of his current train of thought, he's just unfortunate that didn't happen.
He will have been in that head space 1000's of times, this time something pushed him over the edge, maybe drugs, maybe alcohol , maybe both, who knows... time will tell.

It's really sad to see that his problems ended in this way and I feel really bad for his family.

Sad end to a comic genius. Being unhappy is a whole world of difference from being clinically depressed though.

Pleas don't forget, Fox News' official line was that Robin Williams was a coward (until the complaints stacked up). Fuck Fox news. Please never watch this awful excuse for a news program, if you are in the US.

>> Being unhappy is a whole world of difference from being clinically depressed though.

I don't know Robin's life at all, but I know alot of people are real quick to try and solve problems with medicine and pills. Pretty soon you get addicted to that stuff, and now you're way worse off than you were before. If any other little thing comes up, you want a pill for that too. I don't know if I know anyone personally who is "clinically depressed", but I do know some folks that take medicine for stuff that they probably don't need. Sorry, don't mean to bug up this thread, and I'm not suggesting that Robin didn't need medicine. I'm just saying in general, especially if someone has been messing with other drugs like cocaine and other stuff, that changes your body and your mind.

I agree Error. In society these days we are so quick to say "here take this, it will make you feel and act better" instead of finding out what the real problem is. Just like ADD and ADHD. My nephew "Has" this and instead of helping him they give him a patch to wear that mellows him out and makes him act, well, not like himself. I have had several arguments with my brother about this because i think they were to fast to rush to medicating him and not figuring out how to fix it. I think they do this to a lot of people instead of finding the root cause of the problem. In the end, it goes to show that no matter how famous and rich you are, there is no hiding from the same issues that even the poorest people are prone to.
