Ringing male/femaile character
show user profile  Speedy
I am looking a quick and easy way on ringing female/male characters without using bone, biped, or skinning modifier. I just want character's elbows, knee and hips bended, heads turining directions. I could careless about fingers or toes.

Would there be a simple way to do this without bone and biped which causes too much trouble for me?
I remember seeing achieved this by using gizmo.

Let me know

The easiest one is CAT it's found under Create -> Helpers -> CAT Objects (from the drop-down) -> Then select CATParent and choose your base. You will still need to rig (not "ring") it which will take a while. Use envelopes to get you started and use "paint weights" to adjust the vertexes. Also "Paint Blended Weights" is useful to smooth the transitions between the joints.

Ring?!?! yeah I mean Rig 'slap my head'...

CAT something new to me, I will have a look at it. Hope its not too complicated.

I was told try this site
and upload my already modeled character and rig from there. I am not sure if its a good way to do this wouldn't it be?

cat is just another type of bone structure like biped or bones are. You're still going to have to skin it, there is no way to get a good result without dealing with rigging/skinning yourself but honestly its not that hard, the time between your 2 posts would have been enough to rig and skin a lowpoly character few times over.

From what I understand... using CAT is animation ready rigging on character or animals... But what If I just want to rig character and move them around manually without animation? Would CAT be a good choice of tool?
