Rigging a hand.

I'm having a lot of trouble lining up the bones of the hand with the mesh of the hand, because when I look at it in wireframe mode I see the wires of all the fingers behind it and it just looks like a mess. If they're all part of one mesh, is there a way to hide the other fingers, so I can line up the bones one at a time?

just hide the polys in polygon mode of editable poly ...poly poly poly

there is a 'hide selected' and 'unhide all' button down the modify panel for this
