HOW TO - get rid of Edit poly floating menu in max 2011
show user profile  Vivifyer
This thing annoys the hell out of me, and has done since moving to 2011..

to get rid of this annoing menu just replace
EditPolyMod.dlm and EPoly.dlo in the \3ds Max 2011\stdplugs folder with attached (it`s from max 2010)
don`t forget to make a backup files first

the EditPolyMod.dlm and EPoly.dlo files are here. -http://www.sendspace.com/file/ap591d

I've learned to live with it.

It's not perfect, but it's going to stay, and it's being redesigned, according to the recent webinar.

I've forced myself to get used to it. At the moment, it is a bit of a pain. You can't even use TAB to cycle between the fields to type in values.

I just dont get it, that the redesign involves making things slower and more cumbersome.

Often the box will float right over the top of my selected vert.. i cannot even see the results!

then you cannot type a number, hit enter, and quickly type another number if its not what you where after, it deselects the dialogue area, so you have to re click it every single time.. THIS IS NOT DESIGN INNOVATION.. its fucking shit up, and making me loath max. urrg want to back hand the guy implimenting this stuff, and say don't fix what is not broken.. just make it use all cores in the view-port, or use the gpu to help render the view-port faster.. fuck sake is it so hard?!

Yup. Autodesk admitted that they aren't ideal, and they are currently redesigning them.

>>fuck sake is it so hard?!

To be fair, they are giving Max it's largest overhaul ever at the moment, and in a few years, Max will be quite different to what we know now. They do know that the current solution isn't ideal.

There are ways of telling Autodesk this via the feedback forms on the Autodesk site. The more people that complain about a feature, the more likely it is to get fixed!

I'm STILL not on 2011 yet, but I thought you could move those floaters to wherever you wanted on screen? I've certainly seen it done in some random demo vid for the product.

Personally, I'd really struggle going back to 2009. Max 2011 is great.
