Reversed shadow problem
It seems all my posts relate to shadow problems. Anyway, I recently made a mesh and exported it as a nif file. When I open it in another program the highlights appear to be reversed, like the comparison below shows.
On the right is another sword that I had exported previously that looks like it's supposed to and on the left is the mesh with the problem. When I import this mesh into a game the side of it that faces the light source is dark and the side that is in the shadow has the highlight.
Both meshes were exported with the same settings so I think it's something else at play.

If they were inverted the model would appear invisible, I think, and the model appears ok in 3dsnax, but I managed to fix this by the good old method of attaching it to a new mesh in a new file and then deleting the extra mesh and exporting again.
