3D Max'er required in the Midlands UK.
show user profile  Westcoast13
Hi all! Long time no speak, although i do lurk around occasionally! :)

I've literally been so busy for the last year I've had no time to be a part of the community, which i do feel bad for. Which brings me on to the point of posting...

I'm 3D Vis project leader in a company based near Leamington Spa, UK. The demand for 3d renders in the material we produce has grown to the extent that the handful of guys capable of producing them of good quality to relatively tight deadlines can't keep up with the workload.

We need someone proficient in 3ds Max and Mental Ray, with reasonable experience in Adobe suite - Photoshop, illustrator & After Effects. The job doesn't really entail any modelling - we have full client CAD access.

Anyone fancy a job? I'm assuming it'd be a 3/6 month contract for starters, however I haven't discussed the exact details with my manager yet, he just asked me to put feelers out.

If you're interested, drop me an email with examples of your work to: lee.thornett @ semcon.com

Obviously drop the spaces in the email address, although if you didn't realise that, i don't want to work with you anyway! ;)

Similar response to the last time I tried to find a maxer here then! I guess it bodes well that everyone is working hard! Keep it up fella's!

If anyone does know of someone that might fit the bill though, do drop me an email please. This is a real job at a decent company, not a work-for-free mmorpg project! :)

Sorry you didn't get a response. I'd put my hand up... if I didn't have go to Midlands, and do any arch vis stuff.

Ah... must have read, "3D Vis" as "Arch Vis" when I skim read.

So what is this project then? Cars, people, etc...

Hey Westcoast

Is it absolutely necessary to relocate? I'd be up for doing it, I only just moved though two weeks ago...

I'm only in Southampton. Is there any chance to do some of it remotely?

It's automotive based Nic.

I'm afraid it all has to be done onsite due to the sensitive nature of the work we do.

It seems so hard to find the right people for the job! :)

lol, good guess Marko, not right though...

Our work isn't marketing it's technical training and customer education based.

wow, I just assumed people were contacting you directly instead of replying to your post. I'm surprised there was no interest.

then again, as Feargal Sharkey once sang, a good someone-proficient-in-3ds Max-and-Mental Ray,-with-reasonable-experience-in-Adobe suite - Photoshop,-illustrator-&-After-Effects is hard to find

Or was it a heart?

Anyway, hope you find someone. I'd have been well up for it if your company could've relocated to London!

Good luck

lol! That's what we've found when employing guys in the past. They say they are good at all that, but in reality they are basically just lying. lol.

The search continues.... :)

I tend to have a 15 minute go on the program they want me to have experience in... and I say, "I am familiar with that program"... not a lie.

Yeah, you aren't the only one! That's all very well till I end up having to redo work, teach people the basics of a program they claim to know how to use etc.

It means that I might as well have done the job myself and saved the hassle! Frustrating really! :)

Great example recently actually, stood behind a guy 'expert' in 3ds max and i said, "Open the material editor...."

The mouse went round, and round, and round, and round until the silence was so embarrassing I had to explain what the material editor was!!!!
