Rendering where the mouse pointer sits?
show user profile  Justin101
Isnt there a way to get an image to render the little box passes
at where you place the mouse cursor?
So in fact you can manually point to what gets rendered first?

Cheers.

With Vray you can do this. It's a little button at the top of the frame buffer.

Yea I found and pressed the button in frame buffer, but when I move
the mouse cursor over the scene while rendering, it doesnt render at the mouse pointer.
Is there something else that needs to be enabled to make this option work?

Should just work when you press the button, odd.

no, it should just work.

In older versions of VRay, the pre-pass buckets wouldn't follow the mouse, only the actual render buckets would. The new versions, pre-pass buckets follow the mouse as well (in Maya anyway)

uhm perhaps you are rendering something demanding and the bucket(s) is(are) just stuck and had no time to move just yet to the location your are pointing at..?

Ridiculous though it may sound, I'd considering working more with mentalray if they implemented that feature.

Actually it does work. But it only renders wherever I put the mouse pointer
during the final rendering phase and not during any of the pre-passes.

Is there no way for theis feature to work during the pre passes?

Only in vray 3 - not previous versions.

Yep, the latest version. They've made some changes in the buckets lately, another change is that the buckets get smaller automatically towards the end of the render, to try and prevent one large bucket being stuck rendering while all the others are finished and idle. That can speed up the render :)

Me too. Occasionally I also instruct them to hurry up - at loud volume.
