Render to texture 3dsmax VRay
show user profile  Carro
I'm going mad! My colleague is a Maya user, and I am a 3ds max user. We both use VRAY. I have a situation here where I have to bake a normalmap. In Maya he can render a texture in any size and ratio he wants. And it's going fast as hell. I've been struggeling with max's texture baking now (which I have never used before) and it looks nothing like Mayas VRay-bake settings. It can just render in ratio 1:1 and no bigger than 8k!? Am I missing something here? Can't really find much info about this shit on Google either. Feels like this isn't 3dsmax's biggest strength? I don't want him to win this fight. Any baking pros in here?

I've tried baking (never with textures bigger than 4k) with Vray and it works. There are some settings to tweak or it will crash Max. But basically I think that you have to bake your image in the Vray raw image file.
