Render Q
show user profile  LOL500
So when vray renders, it comes in little boxes, can I just set it to render a specific box while keeping the rest?

Just to be sure, are you guys using US time? because sometimes it might be Friday here but not there. ( Don't bother the misleading flag in my profile)

Thanks.

Set the option in the rendering dialogue from view to region
F10 > Common > area to render

Also, the world doesn't work that way, you don't just use whatever timezone you want, you happen to live in one :D

Thanks
So I just follow my timezone?

Oh I have another one!
I know you guys say pure quads is best, but why does some free models I download are made up of pure triangles? No ngons, no poles, just pure tris.

Firstly, a quad IS 2 tri's. Secondly, it's suggested to make your models "quads only" because you won't have any smoothing artifacts, they're easier to adjust (for instance, if you want to divide a surface in half you can click a loop of quads and press connect in about 2 seconds), and, lastly, they look so pretty. Don't fight it, just do it.

I'm not fighting it!

I just want to know why they do it, why they make their models all tris.

Because they probably converted them to "Editable Mesh." Why? Dunno. I think I read editable mesh is less taxing on the CPU. Maybe it's also a form of copyrite as it makes it much harder for you to edit their models?

The free models were possibly exported from some other program. Exporting a model usually forces it to triangles rather than quads.

There is a detriangulate script at scriptspot which will fix triangulated meshes.
