Render crash
show user profile  Incognito
Hey, I'm experiencing a problem when trying to render a scene I've built. Basically, it doesn't render beyond frame 50 and crashes when I try to cancel.

I'm trying to save the animation as TGA format with 100 frames. I think it might be a problem with an object in the scene - I've reset the x-form but with no success.

Is there anything at all I can do, any suggestions?

can you describe the scene? lots of lights? lots of polygon info? particle systems? renderer and settings? maybe turn off your advanced lighting and see how it goes. if it renders ok, turning up the settings one at a time till you isolate the problem might be the go.

He who says it cannot be done is interrupting the man doing it.

Hi, I've managed to isolate the problem down to a part of the main landscape - it's dense with polygon information. As soon as I hide the feature my scene renders all the way through. I haven't set up a light rig yet though I do have some particle systems (one with a topology motion-blur complaint).

Do you know of a way to 'debug' something like this? I've tried resetting the X-form but the problem still exists.

I think (hope/pray) that I've solved my problem. I had vertices -60 as it goes- sharing more than one edge each. I used an excellent script called Vertex Killer which can be found here:http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/vertex-killer

I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Just hope it has fixed my problem permanently!
