render backwards...
show user profile  Robroy
Hi, bit of an odd question here.

I was wondering if its possible to render an animation 'backwards' ie- from frame 100- 1. I need show something happening, and then show it in reverse straight afterwards...

Render out as individual frames. Put together them in a program such as VirtualDub.

If you're going to show something one way and then the same way but in reverse it's pretty unnececessary to render out the same frames again when it can be fixed in post. Saves time all around.

Though, you could technically do it by telling 3dsmax to render out individual frames and then list those frames in reverse (100, 99, 98, 97...), though that is also more work than it's worth really.

I think you can, look up "video post" in the help files, I remember there being something about it in there.

You could also just do it in After Effects/Premiere/Final Cut or whatever editing/compositing app you use.

You can flip it in Max easily enough. Select all your keys, open the Track Editor, select the Scale tool and scale them -100%.
