making a render with alpha channel
does anybody know how to make a render of a say item of furniture and have the alpha channel included?
The problem is I have a floor but dont want this to show in the alpha channel.... so at the mo I render it twice one time with floor the second without but with no colours....
thought there might be an easier way?

Use a pure black environmental colour, Give the floor a matte/shadow material (this keeps the shadows but the object will be transparent) and save it as a .png then remove the black layer matte in photoshop to see the correct alpha around the edges

I rendered a test using the split but alpha channel is still all white due to floor covering whole scene?
do I have to set floor to "not be included in alpha channel?"
when I set enviroment to black and save to png the alpha channel is the same.... when I apply black matt in layers it does nothing?... I have bascially applyed a vray black material to floor with slight reflectany? is this correct?

No thats not what I meant but it doesnt matter if you're using vray as its a different materil anyway now, see this thread... (from about half way down,
where I explain the png and tga methods)
