1- use Vray
2- use a bended plane as bg so you don't have this sharp line in your background
3- use HDRI for your reflection
4- use 3 point light technique. never use a single light source in your scene

Here's a good tutorial for the lighting setup:

@S - Welcome, you have a rather simple username, easy to remember.
To make this chair you have to model it, so you have to learn some of the modeling first. Search for Hard Surface Modeling or Poly Modeling. I'm sure someone here knows a decent tutorial about it.
For such a simple object and for a beginner, Mental Ray or iRay is enough for rendering, and you already have it. So no need to get vRay just yet, it's more complicated rendering engine than those other two, also it costs a lot.

@HG - If I understand the question correctly he/she does not have even the model yet. And if someone want's that sharp line, what's the problem with it? Also, if someone wants to learn 3D, he has to learn HOW to think, not WHAT to think.

Hi. I've deleted the other two threads.

Thanks to the helpful members for offering suggestions.

As 9krausec's comments stated: Please make sure you are titling your post as something meaningful. "render" isn't descriptive at all.

Please keep all related content in the same thread by clicking the "reply" button. You reply within your initial thread, not by creating a completely new post on the forum
