Remotes. Like, for TV's and Speakers n stuff.

Long story short I've started working as a contractor for a biiiig software developer in Edinburgh - great pay, but sadly it requires me in-house for 8 to 12 hours / day. I'm very sleep deprived. My 1yo puppy is neglected. I collapsed in bed to watch Game of Thrones (holy fuck it was intense). She was chewing something and I naturally assumed it was her bone.

It was not. It was a tiny little remote I use for my sound bar speaker (Celsus brand). Now I can't turn it off, on, mute it, change the volume or anything.

Can I buy any old brand of remote and point it at this bad boy? School me please.

click here to see said sound bar

edit: On closer inspection it's apparently Panasonic.

edit2: The job is super temporary, I don't plan on neglecting my dog or sleep requirement any more than I have to.

Aye, all the buttons are in the right place - but it looks different. I'd imagine it's got the same circuitry etc in side.

It's this one - but I am loathe to drop £12... :)

I'm a total pleb-o-tron-3000.

Was under the impression that the soundbar didn't have any buttons on it. I have it on the end of my desk. Naturally, remote dead = I can't use it.

What did I find on the side of it today? A little button saying "On!" and... wait for it... an "Off!" too! And volume! Hurray!

Carry on.

Is there a remote that I can use as a pointer-mouse-type thing? Say I'm lying in bed and watching a film then I want to turn my PC off - but am a lazy fucker and my big toe doesn't quite reach the off button. Is there a laser-pen type thing that can issue 'clicks' where it is pointing on screen?

Asking the real questions here.
