Remote desktop software
show user profile  zeefusion
I am looking to get remote desktop software that will allow me to set up meetings with attendees as well as take over their PC if needed.

It would be great if it was web based so there is no software to install on any ones PC. I have looked in to LogMeIn, GoToMeeting, TeamViewer etc but just wondered if anyone here has experience with any and are they any good?

I have seen some that are really expensive where as others are cheaper.

Hi, James:

Check out webex. It is for collaborative meetings, and you can share desktops and give control to other meeting members, etc.

It is $19 a month. I use it for when I am presenting status to clients, and I can control which of my apps to share, and can give them control to click around and use it, etc.

The products you are mentioning are for remote desktop control, as in logging in and having complete control of their system which might not be what you need if you are looking for more collaboration/meeting setting

check out teamviewer. If you don't mind a popup at the end of a session you can use a free version.
Goes through firewalls & routers without hassle.

I have been looking at TeamViewer free but as it will be for commercial purposes I didn't want to get in trouble.

I think I want the workings of both, so to be able to share files whilst showing my screen, discuss via chat or mic. and then take control of their PC if needed.

I'm using the free version of teamviewer a lot, no trouble ever.
I never tried to use it to communicated and/or conference so wouldn't know about that part.
Not sure you'll get a web based program that can remote control, but I might be wrong.

Maybe teamviewer + skype?

I like logmein because it's web based, if you're on a linux or any other machine where you don't have privileges to install software, it works.

From the LogMeIn website:
Simply install LogMeIn Pro on the computer you want to access to gain remote control of its desktop, files, applications and network resources over the web.

Am I missing something?

He wants to control THEIR computer with HIS, I doubt he has problems with installing it on his own PC, and the client needs an install
