Or maybe Max related? Quick Particle Generation
show user profile  TheShrike
Hi everyone, I post questions here sometimes but not about anything usually related to particle generation. I am usually working on learning Max and Zbrush for modeling purposes, but I have made a few short comedy movies in the past and used to use Combustion and Particle Illusion, for quick, easy to render, relatively simple, (cheesy even, I mean this is low budget comedy) particle effects overlays. The fact that those programs had predefined libraries of particle styles with variable and animatable attributes (if you needed to toy with those) was ideal for my non-professional purposes... I know Max does particle generation like a champ but I think it may be a little more complicated than I need right now, though I would love to learn it eventually... I do know after effects pretty decently, and used trapcode particular a bit a while back but was not terribly impressed with it compared to Combustion, or even particle illusion which was essentially just Combustions particle gens and everything else stripped out.

Anyways, does anyone know of a good After FX plugin to buy nowadays, or a decent, relatively simple program to check out for these purposes? I am sorta out of the loop on compositing software these days. Thanks all.

Particular is really quite powerfull, maybe you should give it another try.

For fast cheese, particle illusion is still king when it comes to predefined libraries.
