reducing polys
show user profile  Robroy
hello, I was just wondering if there is a way of reducing the amount of polys in a model?

I have a model which is extremely high poly, and want to half the poly count...

Is there a programme or plugin or method which can be used?

kind regards, Rob

There's the optimise modifier. But be aware... it's absolute shite.

You could also try the Multires modifier, but its equally as destructive as optimise.

It is really bad, out of interest does anyone have experience with this in other apps, XSI's one is very good, but I'm sure others must be equally as good - especially something like modo perhaps - as often its a case of automaticlly reducing edge loops and rings.
