Recording, Encoding, Compressing and Uploading (fraps/youtube)
show user profile  LionDebt
As ze title vould suggest, I want to learn how to record say a 2 to 5 minute clip of my on-screen activities. Encode it to a proper format, compress it (preferably in the most lossless fashion), and then upload it to Youtube - or any other branded video hosting site.

As the broadness of the question would suggest, I have no idea where to begin. I have attempted in the past, but my computer fails too hard, so I've ordered some goodies to beef it up a little bit:

Intel Core i5 2400 3.1GHz (replaces: Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86GHz)
MSI Z68A-G43 Intel Mobo (replaces: ASUSTek P5N-E SLI (Socket 775)
Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz (replaces: 4.0GB DDR2 @399MHz)

Alongside my currently (pathetic)
nVidia GT 240
Western Digital 250gb HD

I'm currently running test on my hard drives read/write speeds, as I hear they are pretty integral to recording things. The new mobo will allow me USB3 capabilities, but I also think, as fast as that may be, the read-write of a optical drive will still be better... Maybe its time to invest in an SSD drive...

Edit: And the results are in
Crystal Disk Mark 3.0.1 tells me this about my hdd read/write speeds

Anyway. Anyone with the knowledge? Or the knowledge of a tutorial / noobie guide to help me out?

Fanks.
