realism - skull render

hey guys, heres an image I created:
I did the lighting and rendering (not the modeling).
I was experimenting with depth of field using a z-depth pass and Photoshop.
What do you think?

most of all, i think you went a little too far with the DoF. texture (bump and specular) could use some modifying though.
it's kinda shiny....plastic lookin'
really nice model tho

Teeth need to be white and it looks like clay, also the background.... hm looks a CG color somehow, use white like paper or perhaps part of en envirioment. Lab or summit....

@dd: SSS? Are bones supposed to have any noticeable sub-surface scattering?

well in places where the bone is thin enough for it to be translucent I guess it would improve the realism.

StevegeK: would the teeth be white because of the process they use to clean and bleach skulls ? I've done this once when I was a kid in school but it's a long time ago. I guess the whiteness all depends on the state of the skull. I doubt there would be much difference in color between the teeth and the rest on a skull that hasn't had a special cleaning treatment.

my pic is bleached skull, skulls have slight SSS. look at the shadows in pics to notice.
