Razor Wire

Hello Everyone,
This is my first project using 3D Studio Max and what I am building is some Razor Wire like the use at prisons to keep people from getting out. I am trying to bend it around some objects several times twisting and turning it to give a nice hardcore grunge effect. What I am having problems with is finding the best way to control the wire and how it bends. I have tried a Path Deformation but its not even close to going on the path I attach it to. I was wondering if someone knew of a better way that I could bend the wire and keep control of it. Thank for taking the time to read this and I hope that one day I learn enough to be able to give back to the forum.

Dont use the 'path deform' modifier, use the 'path deform WSM' modifier, its at the top of the modifier list, and has a 'move to path' button which puts the object physically on the spline you choose, then you just need to select the appropriate axis for it to use

Tried using the 'path deform WSM' modifier, however it puts the wire in the right place its not bending it properly. I am trying to add it to a helix and I get one or to loops that are 100 times bigger then the helix loops then the rest of the wire goes off in a straight direction. Would it be possible to attach a single instance to a path then repeat it along that path?

you need to make the razor wire the correct length before path deforming it. and you need to make sure you hve enough segments down its length to allow it to bend around the helix spline, and you need to make sure you choose the right axis in the path deform wsm options in the modfiy panel

Ok, Ive tried both ways that have been suggested to me by Mrgrotey and Gogodr and am still having problems. The first image below is what I am using to create the Razor wire with the bottom piece is one object formed from the wire center and a razor. I took this piece and used and Array to copy it several times and connected them all together to make one piece of wire. Then I tried Mrgrotey method with the "path deform WSM" and can't get it to bend correct I don't know how to make sure the wire length is the same length as the spline :\ when I do this method I get the result shown in the 3rd photo.

The second method I tried was Gogodrs by attaching it to the path and making copies of it along the path. So what I did was lofted the center piece of the wire around the path then attached it to the path which I thought was going to work good. Other then my razor blades don't line up correct with the lofted path. As showen in Photo 2.

Any ideas how I could correct this. Thanks again for all your time and help it means alot to me.

I think I got it figured out, I don't now if its the best way, but I just removed the middle out of the razor blade and aligned it to the path
