V-Ray: Getting an uncolored light instead of colored?
show user profile  art1982
I like V-Ray's soft lighting that really compliments the mesh, but I don't like how the Sun always changes the texture's colors with a colored light such as yellow, green, or blue. How do I keep V-Ray's soft shading yet get an uncolored light instead of a flavored one?

Make 2 lights:

1. Coloured - exclude your model
2. Uncoloured - include your model

My question is how to create an uncolored light under V-Ray.

if you have a color in your light - set the vray camera white balance to the same color.

if your using a vraysun, replace it with a direct light + vray shadows.

What light exactly should the direct light be and where should I place it to best emulate the soft and 'everywhere' feel of a skylight/sunlight?

default color, white. it should be in the sky - like the sun. turn on global illumination for skylight (under render settings)

You could also try a Lightbox approach.
