Rats Nest
show user profile  iluvpresident
Everytime I export my model I get the warning"rats nest in "box003". I searched into this and this meant something about my model is messy. I've tried looking for overlapping vertices, etc but nothing seems to fix to be wrong. I'm quite new to 3d modeling but maybe somebody could help me out.
Here is my model

thank you in advance

In max, convert to editable poly, go to vertex mode, click "remove isolated vertices" button. It might fix the problem. Did you model it in poly mode, or in mesh mode? Mesh will allow all kinds of horror in a mesh, whereas poly mode will prevent newbies from doing things they shouldn't be doing.

And where am I supposed to cliick on the page you linked so I can download your model??

Use wetransfer, or google drive....
What's so hard about that?

I tried the "remove isolated vertices" button but that didn't seem to do anything. I did make this in poly mode.
Sorry for last link, never used fast-files before and didn't know about wetransfer. Here's a new link

Don't upload max files, since most people won't necessarily have the same version as you. Export a .obj and reupload so lots of us can take a look with our various version of max.

Ah I thought it supported cross versions. Well the new link now has a .obj instead.

Did you use the symmetry modifier by any chance?

I went through each mesh in the obj and selected the vertices, ran 'remove isolated vertices' and then exported and i didnt get any errors.

I just opened a new template, imported the obj and then exported it and that didn't give me a warning. If I export it in the original .max file i still get the warning. Seems really strange but I guess that fixed the problem
