Randomly blinking lights?

I have a TV control room and I've modelled a board of buttons like in scifi films. At the moment I have textured them individually as on and off but when I animate the scene, I want to have them blinking.

Is there a script perhaps that would switch from one texture to another or change a setting within a texture after X amount of frames?

Some very clever scripts. The first one is exactly what I want to reproduce, BUT, the buttons I've built are seperate objects and I want to change the Illumination of the object material (architecural which has glow)

But yeah, with that first script, imagine those squares as objects, I want to automate the Illumination number so they blink on and off.

You can just use an animated Material by Element modifier. F1 it.

Hit F1 and searched that, the example it gives is lights in a building turning on and off.

You sir, are a legend! :D

Thank you. I'll be nuts deep in star trek style flashing panels before I know it! :D

So i programmed all that into my buttons and its looking great.

Two things I'm noticing though.

First off, the initial object that I attach the others too remains on one texture. This isn't major, but i'm curious as to why.

Now, second, I'm not able to animate it by changing the number in the seed feild! So, how else would I go about animating this?

Ignore that, I worked it out :d

Used the curve editor and had it changing the ID slider rather than the seed and it works the same :D

I'm also going to have a go without grouping as many together as well, this way, they will all change at random times to each other!

Oh the possibilities are endless! :D
