| Raleigh Burner BMX Rebuild WIP! |
Westcoast13 |
Here is a little something i've been working on recently thats been diverting my attention from max. Its a 1986 Raleigh Burner BMX.
I bought the frame completely bare and i've since had it dipped & powder coated in the black and gold. I've collected NOS (New Old Stock) parts from literally around the world to make up the complete (lol) bike you see here. Its cost a little more than i thought it would but as long as my wife doesn't find out, its all good. :)
I didn't have one of these when I was 6 (in '86) but my daughter is really into them now which is what spurred me on to get this project. I am now actually considering buying another, but that must be kept quiet from the missus for now anyway. Although once parts start arriving again she'll soon get suspicious!
(Sorry Spoon, the photo is 1000px wide, can you make an exception for me pleeze?)

Thats what I thought, anything that keeps them away from the ps3 for a bit has got to be good!
Must post some pics here or on FB of your progress mate! :)

I genuinely haven't added it up, a guess, £350 maybe? :/
My next one will be a complete bike and i will refurb old parts instead of buying all new bits, hopefully a cheaper way of doing it. Still, i'm very happy with the way this ones going having said that!
Decent ones sell for £250 - £1000. Top price is literally completely standard which would be a very difficult and expensive task to source all the bits. Maybe could make a profit if you refurb as i intend to do next time, but you'd be looking at very minimal profit for a lot of work! :)
Here are the pics of the bike as i bought it...
